GreenMan Theatre Troupe in Elmhurst is going to be doing Dracula this fall. Have you ever seen the Balderston/Dean Dracula? The one that was made into the Bela Lugosi movie, where the most effective scenes had nothing to do with the original play?

That play is so awful that the 1970s Broadway revival, which I saw at the Arie Crown with David Duke and Margaret Whitton, was played as a dark comedy. Whitton (as Lucy) was channeling Carol Burnett.

This is NOT the version GreenMan is doing.

The auditions are August 24, 25 & 26. Check out the excerpts from the script that will be used at auditions:

This script is closer to the book, and is very definitely for adults.

Also, GreenMan is a great group to work with.

I spoke with a man who met with Green Man to explain makeup and special effect techniques. From his take, it sounds like it could turn out to be a very cool production.

I always hate to predict, especially this early in the game, but if the right people get onboard and no power-hungry monsters ruin it for everyone else, it could very well live up to that potential.

That would be great (and sexy...and fun...)!
